Project Profile One

CLF Ventures assisted the AES Corporation with the siting of a 720 MW combined-cycle natural gas fired power plant at a proposed eco-industrial park in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

CLF Ventures assisted the Yankee Atomic Electric Company with the non-radiological aspects of the decommissioning of the 160 MW Yankee Nuclear Power Plant along the shores of Sherman Reservoir in Rowe, Massachusetts.

AES Corporation
CLF Ventures assisted the AES Corporation with the siting of a 720 MW combined-cycle natural gas fired power plant at a proposed eco-industrial park in Londonderry, New Hampshire. CLFV also conducted a strategic environmental review of plant design and made recommendations to minimize the environmental impacts. In addition, CLF Ventures advised AES on a permitting strategy and ways to strengthen local support for the project.

Amerada Hess Corporation
To spur redevelopment, the Amerada Hess Corporation hired CLF Ventures to undertake a community-based re-use planning project for the site. The project was organized and conducted by a coalition of nonprofit, community-based environmental advocacy organizations. The Site Re-Use Planning Project led by CLFV was a community process in which residents and other stakeholders contributed meaningful input into future plans for the site. CLFV developed a community-based re-use plan for the site. This unique project produced a range of viable re-use options that are sustainable from an economic, regulatory, environmental and community perspective.

Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company
CLF Ventures assisted Connecticut Yankee with the decommissioning of its 600 MW facility by exploring the donation of a portion of the plant's property to a government or non-profit entity for conservation. To that end, CLF Ventures developed a stakeholder outreach plan and a communication strategy, particularly targeting plant neighbors and minority (African American and Native American) constituents. CLFV conducted site investigation and assessment, including an ALTA boundary survey and topographical mapping; natural resource (flora and fauna) inventories, assessments and management plans; and archeological and cultural resource inventories, assessments and management plans. Lastly, CLFV developed a property disposition strategy.

Ensolve Biosystems, Inc.
CLF Ventures has partnered with the Industrial Revolutions LLC investment group to promote the PetroLiminator, an environmentally-sound technology that is designed to clean bilge water produced by ships. CLF Ventures will support the expansion of the PetroLiminator through a combination of advancing financial investment in Ensolve and increasing Ensolve's share of the environmental technology market.

Omya North America, Inc.
CLF Ventures is working with Omya North America, Inc. to improve relations with the local community surrounding its Florence, Vermont facility. To date, CLFV has worked to increase the company’s transparency by hosting a community meeting, establishing a community advisory group, and developing multidimensional communication tools.

Yankee Atomic Electric Company
CLF Ventures assisted the Yankee Atomic Electric Company with the non-radiological aspects of the decommissioning of the 160 MW Yankee Nuclear Power Plant along the shores of Sherman Reservoir in Rowe, Massachusetts. CLF Ventures also assisted the client with disposition (1,800 acres) of the property.

City of Concord, NH
CLF Ventures is assisting the City of Concord in updating its Master Plan by designing, coordinating and facilitating a community input process that will ensure community participation through a meaningful public engagement process.

Econimic Development and Industrial Corporation of Lynn, MA
CLF Ventures advised the Economic Development and Industrial Corporation of Lynn (EDIC/Lynn) on all aspects of their EPA Brownfields Demonstration Pilot, including the investigation, remediation and redevelopment of an abandoned industrial facility (Empire Laundry) situated in a residential neighborhood.
